Rooted in Christ, Growing in Grace (A Series in Colossians)

Colossians is a beautiful book of the Bible. It is a short letter written by Paul to a group of Christians that, though he did not know personally, he desired to encourage by commending to them Jesus Christ.

The book focuses on how Jesus, being God’s son, is indeed both our sovereign ruler and our loving king. In the face of being intertwined with the culture, something both we and the first century Colossian Christians both struggle with, the answer is to cling to Christ.

One of the most encouraging passages in Colossians comes in chapter two, where Paul writes, “Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” (Colossians 2:6–7, ESV). When the “roots” of our life dig deep into Christ Jesus the Lord, we will experience true gospel growth. The source of our strength is Jesus Christ, who feeds us and nourishes us with Himself!
