Fall 2023 Bible Study Groups

The goal of our Bible Study groups is to offer a mid-week touchpoint for people to go deeper in their DISCIPLESHIP (that’s the fancy word for people becoming and being followers of Jesus). Some of our groups have a meal, and all of our groups also pray together as they study God’s word, sharing concerns and joys. Our desire is to see all of our covenant members and regular attenders involved in one of our Bible Studies!

Here’s an overview of our Bible Study Groups for Fall 2023:

Ashaway Bible Study

MEETING TIME: WEDNESDAY AFTERNOONS AT 1:00PM
MEETING LOCATION: PARISH HOUSE

The books of Ruth and Esther recount two of the most moving stories in all of Scripture: Ruth, a displaced widow in search of a new home and loving husband, and Esther, a courageous queen intent on saving her people from imminent destruction. This curriculum helps explain the biblical text with clarity and passion―leading us on a journey to discover the God who hears the cries of his people and remains faithful to his promises. **Bring a sack lunch and come early at 12:30pm to fellowship and eat together with this group!

Zoom Bible Study

MEETING TIME: TUESDAY EVENINGS AT 7:00PM
MEETING LOCATION: ZOOM
LEADER: KATHY HUGHES

The Book of James is filled with practical wisdom for Christians, calling us to live out genuine faith through good works, but it is also rooted in rich theology. Perhaps more than any other book in the New Testament, James emphasizes the application of Christian belief. Our Zoom group will be using this 13-week study to examine the‌ ‌core‌ ‌message‌ ‌of‌ ‌James:‌ ‌the‌ ‌relationship‌ ‌between‌ ‌faith‌ ‌and‌ ‌works.‌ ‌This‌ ‌is‌ ‌the‌ ‌essence‌ ‌of‌ ‌James.‌ ‌We‌ ‌don’t‌ ‌work‌ ‌to‌ ‌be‌ ‌saved;‌ ‌we‌ ‌work‌ ‌because‌ ‌we‌ ‌are‌ ‌saved.‌ ‌Faith‌ ‌apart‌ ‌from‌ ‌works‌ ‌can‌ ‌never‌ ‌be‌ ‌sustained.‌ ‌
